CANDLE MAINTENANCE

  • It may seem like candles are easy to care for because all you have to do is light the wick, right? Well, it may surprise you that there are actually right and wrong ways to burn your candles. They're not hard to care for, but not many know the easy steps that can be taken in order for you to get the most out of your candles and have them burn for as long as possible.
  • BEFORE BURNING
Trim the wick to 1/4" height prior to burning your candle. In doing so, it will help control the size of the flame and avoid mushrooming which can lead to unwanted soot and smoke. I recommend trimming it before every lighting to ensure an efficient burn.
  • THE FIRST BURN
When lighting for the first time, burn the candle until the wax melts across the entire surface up to the sides of the vessel. This will prevent the candle from tunneling and prolong its lifespan. This can take anywhere from 2-4 hours depending on the width of the vessel. Avoid placing your cancle in an area where there may be drafts, vents or air currents. This can cause rapid and/or uneven burning, smoking, and diminished scent throw.
  • OTHER CANDLE TIPS
Keep the wax pool clean and free of wick trimmings and debris. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Don't burn for more than 4 hours. Always store your candles in a dark, cool and dry place when not in use. Avoid placing your candles in direct sunlight.
